Middle School Students Discover What’s So Cool About Manufacturing

WHEELING, April 14, 2019 – Explore: The New Manufacturing celebrated the West Virginia What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? Video Contest during a virtual awards ceremony Tuesday night with six local middle schools and six manufacturing companies.

“Today’s middle school students will be tomorrow’s workforce in manufacturing in West Virginia, said Monica Cross, Program Director of the WVMAEF. “This generation has a real opportunity to have lifelong careers in modern manufacturing environments that will use skills in technology, problem-solving, innovation and communication.”

Eastern West Virginia What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? Student Video Contest Virtual Awards Ceremony

Martinsburg, WV – Explore: The New Manufacturing will hold a virtual awards ceremony for the Eastern West Virginia student video contest, What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? on Tuesday, April 16th, at 6:30pm. “In this age of social distancing, the Explore team is busy developing a virtual ceremony to honor the hard work and creativity that our participants have put into to creating a group of amazing videos, “ said Program Director Monica Cross, who oversees the fund’s Explore the New Manufacturing Program that links industry with educators and students across West Virginia. “Students, 7th and 8th graders, produced mini documentaries on a local manufacturer to compete for three awards: Most Creative, Best Manufacturing Message, Viewer’s Choice.”

4D Tech Solutions in Fairmont working to help supply masks for National Guard

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – 4D Tech Solutions in Fairmont is a local engineering company that is doing its part to give back to those responding to the Coronavirus pandemic.

4D Tech Solutions is creating masks for the National Guard that are reusable, and give a person the ability to interchange the filter. The design came from a doctor in Montana, who shared it with engineers all over the country, so they could provide a better protective mask for people who are possibly exposed to the virus.

Education Station' Is A Learn-At-Home Resource From The State Department of Education and WVPB

The West Virginia Department of Education has entered into a partnership with West Virginia Public Broadcasting to deliver student engagement content for West Virginia students amid the COVID-19 school closures.

This partnership will provide students with access to a twice-weekly program called “Education Station,” helping them to keep their skills sharp; keeping them connected to the learning process; and supplementing other resources from their schools and counties.

ELKINS– Recently the West Virginia Wood Tech Center hosted the Scrap Competition between the Highland Adventist School and the Randolph Technical Center.
