High school students become consultants to solve real life problems presented to them by local manufacturers

West Virginia manufacturers will challenge high school teams to find solutions to problems they are experiencing in their facilities.  Each challenge is unique and can come from a variety of aspects of the company’s operations.

THE SOLUTION:  Learn how problem-solving is a critical job skill 

Following the team’s presentation, students and manufacturers discuss the feasibility of implementing the solution. The experience illustrates how teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills are used to implement the industry's solutions.


  • Students: Build new networking connections, leading to future internships, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities. 
  • Manufacturers: A fresh perspective that often results in innovative ideas that can help companies find new ways to tackle difficult manufacturing or technology challenges.
