Problem solving, teamwork, and technical skills will be critical to successfully completing the challenge

Scrap logo finalThe Explore Program’s design and skills competition tests regional career and technical high school students to see who can fabricate the best creation using a pile of scrap manufacturing materials within a set time limit.  The students' problem solving, teamwork, and technical skills will be critical to successfully completing the challenge.  Teams are judged on their skills, innovation, safety standards, and execution during the competition.  Contests feature scrap metal or wood materials donated by local manufacturers.

  • Interacting with manufacturers and judges will help to improve face-to-face communication skills
  • Gain self-reliance and confidence through the accomplishment of tasks required by the competition
  • By adhering to safety standards, students will show manufacturers that they understand some fundamental concepts of professionalism required in the workplace.
  • Collaborating with your group to meet a goal builds teamwork skills.
