Explore the New Manufacturing is pleased to release the Linsly School’s video submission in the Northern Region What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? Student Video Contest.  The Linsly video showcases the plastic bottles and shakers produced by Silgan Plastics, located in Triadelphia, West Virginia.

The students are competing for three regional awards: Outstanding Creativity, Best Manufacturing Message, and the Viewer's Choice.  Visit https://www.exploremfgwv.com/students/student-video-contest.html to view the Linsly video.

"The Explore the New Manufacturing video contest has been a wonderful experience for our students. It really opens the eyes of middle schoolers to careers in manufacturing and how they impact Wheeling and the surrounding community," stated Maggie Allison, Middle School Dean at the Linsly School.

Members of the Linsly Team:  Sophie Toma (Team Captain), Addison Lucas, Tucker Doty, Gavin Spadafore, Alyssa Heath, Alliyah Williams, and Andrew Hoang.

“Silgan Plastics maintains a valuable reputation in the business encompassing not only our customers and their consumers, but all Silgan employees and the communities in which they work and live,” stated Russ Howell, Plant Manager.  “We are committed to assisting students in their educational goals by participating in the Northern Region Video Contest through Explore the New Manufacturing.” Howell further commented, “We’ve enjoyed partnering with the Linsly School and working with the students to provide insight into our business and how we strive to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction. This program exemplifies the importance of manufacturing in the community for generations to come.”

Silgan was pleased to have several associates participating in this project, but would like to offer special thanks to Fred Minkemeyer, Harry Heath, and Zachery Perry.

“Today’s middle school students will be tomorrow’s workforce in manufacturing in West Virginia,” said Program Director Monica Cross, who oversees the Explore the New Manufacturing Program on behalf of the West Virginia Manufacturing Association Educational Fund’s efforts to create student awareness and excitement about careers in manufacturing and the training opportunities for these positions in their local areas. “This generation has a real opportunity to have lifelong careers in modern manufacturing environments that will use skills in technology, problem-solving, innovation, and communication.”
